The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has reaffirmed its commitment to the pursuit of social justice, insisting that all Nigerians must have access to dignity, quality healthcare, and education, while workers are fairly rewarded for their labour.

In a Christmas goodwill message to Nigerian workers, the Congress urged its members to continue showing love, solidarity, and mutual support, especially during challenging times.

The NLC also expressed concern over the controversy surrounding the newly introduced tax laws, stressing the need for tax justice. It argued that taxation should be equitable, with the wealthy paying their fair share, while all forms of regressive taxation that disproportionately burden workers and low-income earners should be eliminated.

According to the labour union, a fair and transparent tax system is essential for promoting economic justice and reducing inequality in the country.

As the year draws to a close, the NLC called on Nigerian workers to enter 2026 with renewed commitment to unity, organization, and collective action, noting that sustained solidarity remains critical to building a just and inclusive Nigeria.
