Bandits have abducted 25 schoolgirls and killed the Vice Principal of Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) in Maga, located in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The attack occurred on Sunday night when armed men stormed the school premises.
According to local sources, the Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Makuku, was shot dead while attempting to shield students during the invasion. The attackers reportedly operated unhindered, causing widespread panic and leaving the community in shock and mourning.
Residents have been offering prayers for the late vice principal, seeking Allah’s mercy upon him and comfort for his family. The Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident and stated that 25 students were taken by the assailants.
Deputy Governor Senator Umar Tafida has been directed to visit the school on behalf of Governor Nasir Idris, who is currently out of the state. According to the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, the deputy governor is expected to gather detailed updates on the situation. Parents and community members are anxiously awaiting official information regarding the kidnapped students.
The incident has prompted renewed calls for stronger security measures to safeguard schools and communities across the region. Residents are urging government authorities and security agencies to take swift action to rescue the abducted girls and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
