The Sokoto State Police Command joined the global celebration of Customer Service Week with a landmark Stakeholder Engagement Session, reaffirming its commitment to community-oriented policing and service excellence.
The event, held at the Command Officers’ Mess, brought together a wide cross-section of civil society groups and community representatives to foster dialogue and collaboration on enhancing police-community relations across Sokoto State.
In his opening remarks, the Commissioner of Police, Sokoto State Command, emphasized the Command’s unwavering commitment to professionalism, transparency, and citizen-centered policing. He noted that the engagement provided an important platform for mutual understanding, feedback, and partnership toward building safer communities.
The session featured active participation from key stakeholders, including representatives of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Okada Riders and Tricycle Riders Associations, Traditional Rulers, and members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC).
A major highlight of the event was the interactive dialogue session, during which stakeholders shared insightful feedback on improving policing effectiveness, response time, and accountability. Participants also commended the Command’s officers and men for their dedication, professionalism, and ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security within the state.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner of Police stated:
“Today’s engagement underscores our belief that effective policing is a shared responsibility. This Customer Service Week, we are not just speaking to the community — we are listening. The feedback we have received here will be carefully reviewed and integrated into our strategies to serve the people of Sokoto State even better.
The event concluded with a renewed mutual commitment between the Police Command and stakeholders to continue working together to sustain peace, enhance public trust, and ensure the collective safety of all residents of Sokoto State.
