Former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Najeem Salam, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for next year’s governorship election.
Salam emerged through a consensus arrangement, polling 520 votes out of the 528 delegates who participated in the primary election.
Chairman of the ADC Electoral Committee, Chukwumeka Nwajuba, commended party members for the peaceful conduct of the exercise and urged them to work collectively towards the party’s success at the polls.
In his acceptance speech, Salam expressed gratitude to party members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to run an inclusive campaign, promising to carry all members along in the party’s quest to win the governorship seat.
The primary election was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
